Minot yeah! I know the gasket you speak of. Jay is right on the money. The gasket you bought is universal. Covers the entire primary dome hole. As long as the bolt pattern matches, should work no problem

Aaaaaaand, any suggestions on getting the fluid in? Do I just pour it on in there? Does the bike have to be straight up, or will the whole qt. fit while on the kick stand?
Pull the side inspection cover. The one where a stock shifter would be. Put in a quart or until it levels with the bottom lip of the inspection cover. Use a small funnel to angle it in the cover whole! Check your primary adjustment while you have that cover off.............just for ***** and giggles!

One problem, I have the stock shifter. Seeing as how I'm waiting on my SM (fn' dealership up here!!!), what do I look for/how to adjust???

It's an 08, no inspection cover. Just fill it at the derby cover opening. A quart will do it.

That original orange seal can be used indefinately as long as it requires compression to bottom the derby cover down with the bolts. You'll see it's fine when you bolt it back on.

You will have probably have to remove the shifter in order to pull the inspection cover. After you pull the cover take a ruler and use the top of the lip of inspection hole as your marker for the ruler. Use the end of the ruler to push up on the chain. Should be no more then 3/4 inch slack.

So, no orange seal back on, install black universal seal (seeing as how the bolt holes line up), put one qt directly into the primary while on the kick stand, correct?

Yes! What Jay said. Sorry din't realize the 08 had no cover. The whole Idea is for the chain and the basket to be sitting in the oil. Hence oil bath! Not submerged mind you just a bath. Fill it to the lip and cover it up.

You won't be able to get the whole quart in on the stand.

The bike will have to be upright to get the last of it in.
