Default Primary HELP Quick!!!

I'm changing out the primary fluid, and when I went to the dealership, I bought a new seal for it. Seeing as ho I've never done it, I didn't notice at the time. I think they sold me the wrong seal!!! Either that, or the MOCO forgot to put the seal in when they manufactured it????

It's an '08 FXDC. The primary seal that's in there now is orange, and rubberish. It just fits into the primary cover. The one I was sold is black, rubberish, and fits the whole diameter of the primary cover. The part number on it is 25416-99C.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! I've got the primary open in the driveway, and need to know if this black seal needs to go on, or if I just need to get a new orange one???

Before the bashings start, yes, I have a SM on order. It's been two weeks and I couldn't wait any longer...DAMN IT!!!

If the original seal is in good shape I would make sure it's clean an reinstall it.If it wasn't leaking when you removed it then it is probably still good.

It's not that though. What's up with this black seal that they sold me, that looks like nothing that came off when I just openedthe primaryup? Is it supposed to be installed?

I have re-used the orange one on my bike 3 times. Just make sure if you have a torque wrench you tighten the torx screws to 100 INCH lbs. Also, tighten them in a pattern starting with the top one then lower left, then lower right, upper left, upper right. The drain plug gets tightened to 55 INCH lbs.

The newer gasket is a universal replacement for the stock derbycover gasket. It will come in handy when you decide to put a fancy derby cover on. The 06 and up's are the only bikes that used the stupid O-ring on the derby cover.

Aaaaaaand, any suggestions on getting the fluid in? Do I just pour it on in there? Does the bike have to be straight up, or will the whole qt. fit while on the kick stand?
