New to the forum and new to Harley. I just bought my first bike and I can't decide onwhich pipesto get, but hate the sound of the stock pipes. Is there anything you can do to the stock pipes to alter their sound?
Sure, drill a hole on the back side.. Just don't let em' see it if you're in an inspection state.
Welcome to the forums. Lots of good pipe info here. I read once that you should ride your stocker for 3-4 weeks. After that time you'll know exactly what you want to have done to it. Seems reasonable enough. To hear how different pipes sound YouTube has a ton of videos and Vance and Hines website has sound bites.
when i was searching for the sound and look i wanted i spent alot of time at local dealerships listening to the bikes that came and went. when i found what i wanted i had to commit to spending 600 on pipes and 1300 on tuner and recalibrations. well worth every penny. its your bike so you decide but i recommend that you do not cut corners, it will only lead to dissapointment and you wont enjoy your bike like you should.
Welcome to the forums and congrats on the new ride. Pipes are like oil - everyone likes something different! +1 on what Biggol said: check out Youtube for vids and sound clips .They won't give you "live" sound, but you get an idea. The best bet is to go to a dealer, indy or someplace with a lot of bikes and ask to hear some - or ask someone you see with pipes you like and they'll probably be happy to fire up for you so you can hear them. One of our dealers here in South Texas indulged me and took me through the shop so I could hear a couple of bikes with different pipes. Makes a world of difference when you can hear them in person.

Welcome to the forum!! Congrats on the bike. Be sure to post pics.
Slip-ons are the cheapest start to exhaust, and there's a ton of info on here. Like stated earlier, look at YouTube, bike nights, and the dealer until you find something you like.
