Can anyone tell me is there a problem or risk with US sellers selling to me in Scotland ?
I have had a number of good deals with the US and they have been shipped fast but I have had a lot of people say they willnot sell outside the states ... is there a reason ?
I don't think it has anything to do with you. Some people are just a little nervous about shipping overseas. That, and most of the eBay scams come from overseas.
I understand the scam thing as I was taken for $200 over here a couple of years ago . But is there some doubt over the safety of paypal over there cause it gives protection over here if the buyer has a proven track record ?
Hi, I have bought from ebay sellers in the US with no problem at all, and most are happy to deal with buyers in the UK, same goes with selling to buyers in the US, postage can be a problem sometimes, but generally all is fine if you keep them informed.
I only deal via PAYPAL and have had no problems.
I too have a 100% feedback record and am keen to keep it that way.
Some countries do have scams, I know, got caught out over a year ago selling a laptop, my fault for being to trusting.
Here its a case of weight and size of box is it different in the States ?
I only have experience with large heavyitems.
I have to deal with customs andduties on top of the actual shipping costs. Most customers do not expect that.
I do ship to Canada because we have set up a customs broker.
I shut down shipping to Canada on ebay because I had a customer buy a small item for only about $50.00.
Since it was small I sent it UPS.
UPS in Canadacalled my customer and tried to charge her $40.00 in tax!!!
Of coarse she would not pay and UPS would not deliver without the money. Then they would not even send the item back too me!!! I would have had to pay the $40.00 in duty to get it back. I told UPS to throw it in the garbage.
I do not have time for international shipping headaches so I do not do it anymore.
postage and customs is the big reason for me. the final straw was I had a guy in germany bid on a hyper charger , he wanted it shipped the cheapest way possible so I told him to expect it to take 4 weeks if I sent it surface mail , he said that would be fine . 2 weeks after I had shipped the item he filed a pay pal dispute claiming he never recieved his item , fortunatly I had reciets and documentation but it still took almost a month for pay pal to let go of my money and yes he did e-mail he recieved the air cleaner almost 4 weeks to the day after I shipped it . for that reason I have blocked anybody outside the continental united states from bidding on my auctions.
its a shame stuff like this happens but stupid people generally run it for everybody. so it isnt you buddy its all the idiots who are quick to buy but not pay attention to where an itemis or the time frame and cost of getting it there.
