I have an 07 Superglide and replaced the OEM shocks with Progressive 412 12" shocks. They lowered the bike about 1/2" but I would like to go lower and have heard of people putting 11" shocks on theirs. I ordered an Arlen Ness lowering kit for the front which will lower it about 1 1/2". I would like to go down to 11" in the rear to compensate but I will be riding 2 up and don't want to bottom out. Any suggestions are appreciated.
I only lowered mine not quite an inch. 2 suggestions, make sure any bolts holding seat or racks to the fender are as short as possible. Don't want anything protruding under there that might take a chunk out of the tire if you do bottom out. Also might need to look at a shorter Jiffy stand, cause the stock one will cause the bike to stand too straight up and down, might tip over.
Yeah good points and thanks! I have a shorter stand, (came with the Arlen Ness lowering kit).
I've checked all inside the rear fender and there is nothing sticking out anywhere,
other than the wiring harness, that the tire could hit. Total weight on the bike is me at 160 and the wife at 120 so it's not like there's gonna be a lot of weight on it.
Has anybody done this and rode 2 up?
Thanks all for any help and advice.
