Default Dyna's with Buckhorn bars

Ive got a 2000 Dyna with stock buckhorns. My problem is, the stock rectangular mirrors are stock, & need to have longer stems. I ordered a pair of long stem rectangular mirrors but because the place when you put your hands is almost vertical, the long stem mrrors point down at a 45 degree angle to the bike. So my question is, has anyone found a pair of STRAIGHT long stemmed rectangular mirrors for their buckhorns?? I know... its a longshot but I gotta ask. If all else fails, Ill swap out the bars.

I have a 98 Dyna with buckhorns that I bought last spring. +1 on the mirrors. Plus I feel like I'm leaning back too much. Soon as i can, the buckhorns are being chucked, and replaced with drags on risers. The only issue for me is the standard FXD speedo on the bar clamp -- I know there are solutions, but $$ prohibitive on my budget. The other thought is to change out the buckhorns for Sportster bars. Anyone done this, any comments?

I got rid of the the stock bars and put ones on from a low rider, which are being replaced now with drag bars. I was using the extensions that raise the mirrors up about 3-4 inches, was tired of looking at my elbows. Maybe try that?

my wife has a set of buckhorn bars on her fxdl. i put a set of the slimslotted stem low profile mirrors from harley on it and they work well and look good too. i'll see if i can get a pic showing them.
(ignore all the other add-ons in the pic - she has detachable hard bags and an aftermarket tour pak for long rides across country and had just made a long trip).

Thanks for all the replies guys. Drdave, thanks for the pic too. Ill look into those slotted stems, but hope I can find them with rectangular mirrors. I think I saw similar ones on the Kuryanyn site as well. I was thinking my last resort was to change out the handlebars.

I have a 2000 and I swapped the bars out for a nice set of drags bars about a year after I bought it and have never regretted it. Nothing looks as good on a dyna as a nice set of drag bars IMHO.

I was looking in the Harley catalogue on-line, searching for straight stemed mirrors and found a pair of chromed 2" extensions. It looks like a stud with a bolt-like threaded end and a deep socket threaded end. And a sleeve that is beveled on one end. So you take the mirror, stem and all off the bike. Screw on this stud and locktite it in. Place back on bike and snug up with your same washers and acorn nut. Adjust and tighten down. Very simple. Kit even came with a tiny tube of Loctite 271. Part# is 91907-87 I paid $29.95 for it which I thought was too high, but when DONT I think prices are too high. I can now see better past my shoulder and my wife while riding. Thanks to all that replied.

Bob, if you change out the bars take a look at these from a Sportster. They work well for me but you may have to lean forward a bit.
