No battery tender, I usually just start it every 3-4 weeks and run it. If that is the issue then I will be buying one this week. Last year I had a issue and could not ride, but now I am back. I assume it has to do with the fact it was out in the cold garage this winter. I was not out there heating it all the time because of oil prices this year.
I will keep my fingers crossed that the new battery will solve the problem. I don't think it is a charging issue since my charger could not even charge it.
If you find that the new battery loses some of it's top end cranking amps you need to start it at least once a week and ride it for a bit.
They will not stay good if you don't. Unless of course, you have the tender.
jackyl666.. pm me if the battery is not the problem. If you can send me some details, I can help..possibly...Did the bike start up right away after it died? I had same problem...lemon law solved it. btw I had a 2006 streetbob also.
Got to be a wirng problem or an internal fault with ecm. I wonder if the ecm has failed if it is covered by and emmisions warranty, like a car? Maybe check owners manual or with good dealer?
I was out yesterday and riding my 06 Street Boband on the way home the bike just died. Nothing on the dash indicators showed up and the power was on. I had lights and the bike cranked. When I got back to the house I started to check everything out, found nothing out of the ordinary. Called the dealership, they just got done working on the bike said it was not their fault and said they wanted 160.00 just to pick it up and deliver it to them.
So, knowing that I would not do that I tore into it some more and found only one think out of the ordinary. The battery was at 11.81V, I hooked up the charger to it and tried to jump it, nothing. Took the battery off and tried charging it, after sitting all night the charge was still 11.81V. I picked up another battery today to try, but fear that it could be something else. The bike only has 1000 miles on it so I cannot believe that there would be an electrical issue already.
I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks
think id be finding a new dealer by them already saying its not there fault.almost sounds like a admission of guilt of them
Is the ECM the same as the ECU? The reason I am asking is that I have the power commander on my bike and I was thinking about pulling that out. Then trying to start it. I am still concerned about the ECM 15V blowing though.
