got my ac cover from exe today! I have a se air filter kit and the foam on the filter is blue. don't know if I like that. What do you guys think...does k&n make one with balck foam? Its not the best picture. and a nice picture of the lights
I posted a week or two ago that my kit from Surdyke came with a black element. I'm happy about that, although, there's nothing wrong with the blue one. I'm just wondering why one kit would be blue/white and the other black. Maybe mines a K&N one????

Whiff
Yours is not a K&N filter, not even close.
There's a picture of mine in my gallery that's a K&N. You'll know a K&N when you see it.
Eeeeeasy there, Cobra. I wasn't trying to steal your element's thunder with my question. I know I didn't order a new K&N for my A/C. I do, however, think I remember reading somewhere that some of the older SE kit elements were made by K&N. Given that mine looks different than the ones I've seen online and in the shop, I thought maybe it was one of those older ones. I'm not making any claims here other than mine's black - regardless of the manufacturer.
Now...go add some more chrome to your bike.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
Hey man, sorry if that sounded "hot headed". It wasn't meant to be...I was just trying to make a point. Basically the point is if you had your element and a K&N element sitting next to each other on a table you'd immediately be able to tell which was the better filter both in material and quality.
Sorry for coming off like an @$$.
Just for your FYI, K&N's aren't a paper material and that material is not white. It's kind of a redish pink, that usually your first indicator that it's a K&N.
It sure looks like the blue one in your pic is more than the band on the filter.
The K&N when it is new has a red tint to the filter material from the oil that's applied. The other filters are not K&N as far as I know that come with the SE kits any longer unless you get an older kit from stock. HD choose to go cheap on the filters and that's what we come up with as the end user.
I have to agree that even on a cobalt blue bike, the blue filter element does look a little funky. The black one on "Whiffleboy's" bike is definitely better looking. IMO, K&N's filters are quite attractive, on anything. In this picture from their site, you can get an idea of what their SE replacement element will look like.
