Mirror image??
Was out on another leisurely ride today. As Isettled into "comfort" mode on a long, 2-lane, 55mph straight, I began to relax and take in the sights (hundreds of roadside anthills), sounds (my V&H StraightShots) and smells (Cottonwood tree "sweets"). I started comparing my [stock] right/left mirrors to see ifI had them set about the same; can JUST see my shoulders to about mid-forearm on the inboard edge ofeach view. The thingI most noticed, and that really got to bugging me, was the difference inqualitybetween the two reflected images. If sitting at a dead-stop with the engine OFF = 20/20 (image clarity) in both mirrors, then the 55mph images I was viewing would rate about 20/40 in the right mirror, but only about 20/100 in the left mirror. This may not be too meaningful to those of you blessed with lifetime perfect vision. The blurrier left view seems totally vibration-related. When I raised the back of my knuckles to contact the bottom edge of the mirrors, the left side seemed to transmit more vibration than the right. Strange, since felt vibration at the grips is aboutthe same. The mirror stems seem about the same length and symmetrical, so I'm at a loss to understand why the left would suffer more vibration than the right.I use my left mirror a lot more than the right, so it's that much more of an issue. I have yet to ride without my Q-D 'shield, so I don't know if this could be related to asymmetrical buffeting. Anyone else noticed this on your Dyna Wide (or other D)??
Pkelly, this is wierd, I have the same problem. Just one of those things I never say anything about. The stock mirrors did it and my new Dual HD mirrors do it too. The best explanation I can come up with is: the mirror on the left is attached with a hardened steel chrome nut, which might transfer more vibration, where as the mirror on the right is held on by a cast soft metal nut intergrated with the flasher unit and it dampens some of the vibration. I can't believe I spent that much thought process on that, hope we are not limited to how much thinking we can do....LOL.
Dude. You're way too distracted. Youshould be looking for that cell phone driver right up ahead somewhere or that dog or deer. You're gonna hit something.
