I had the same problem with mine, it would just flop even from the motor running. I took a sharp chisel and a hammer and peened the ball with the mirror adjusted to extremes of up, down, left and right. Centering it back up afterwards, it is nice and solid on the little ridges I made with the chisel.
If they are stock mirrors, just tighten the set screws on the back of the mirroe housing. Be careful though, if you go too tight youll break the mirror!
