My wife and I very much want floorboards on our FXD. We have seen some places that say you can not use them and other ads on ebay that say you can.
Anybody running floorboards on your FXD? Would you share where from and now big they can be without the passenger boards interfering with the pipes? Oh, I also have the forward controls from the wide glide or street bob installed as well.
Can anyone tell me for sure what will and won't work?
I have a 2007 FXDL with stock exhaust and I installed a set of HD passenger floorboards. The floorboard supports extend about an inch further out than the standard passenger peg mounts that came with the bike. The floorboards are the standard "D" shaped ones that are the same as on the touring bikes in the showroom. I must admit I don't particularly care for how they look on my bike. My wife tried them out today and suprisingly told me they bothered herbecause theytransmit vibration more thanthe pegs did. Apparently some vibrations are more desirable than others. In any case I will have her try sturdier boots rather than sneaks next time. The parts numbers are:
49349-07 black dyna passenger floorboard support kit
50613-91A floorboard, passenger ("D" shaped, black, you will need 2)
50606-86A floorboard rubber pad (you will need 2)
C Creek, was the installation very involved? I just bought the HD rider floor board kit and it involves removing the primary cover etc. This is all new to me so I'm trying to avoid surprises and mistakes.
I also have both rider and passenger boards on my 07' Wideglide. Wife likes them better than pegs BUT she says the angle is wrong for her. Installation is not a problem BUT make sure you have the proper size torx because the factory uses pretty good lock tight and it can be hard to break the bolt loose.
You may want to do a search on removing the primary as many on the forum have not done that and found Mickey Mouse (though effective) ways to avoid it. I got lucky because my bike had factory forwards and primary removal is not needed.
