Default how low can I get shocks

I want to lower my 2007 superglide,I saw a pair of shocks eye to eye was 10/5 inches for about 115.00 will this sacrifice the ride and comfort to much if I go this low ? Any ideas and where should I get a pair of good shocks...I dont want to spend a lot for shocks.

I'm certaily no expert but mine are 11" progressives looks to me any lower and the belt gaurd would hit the top of the fender 07 super

I've got 11" Progressive HDs and I can honestly say the ride quality has suffered a bit.So with 10.5s I doubt it would feel much different than the 10in solid struts I keep seeing on Ebay. Also you can get some generic Heavy duty shocks on Ebay for about half what I paid for Progressives shop around you can get some low profile air shocks for a bit more.

I put 11" progressives on the ride yesterday. Rode it for about 30 mins. The ride seemed pretty good but too damn cold and windy to really make a judgement.

ditto what belly dragger said. don't think any lower than 11" would be safe. belt guard would probably hit.

I imagine you could go lower if you remove the belt guard but the shorter the shock the less travel you get.The less travel the harsher the ride. There is a way to go allot lower without loosing travel but it requires serious surgery to rear end of the motorcycle. There's a good example of this method in the Bike Of the Month competition.Check out the old school Sporty bobber it's got struts but could easily have shocks. You remount the fender to the swing arm, cut off the fender rails on the frame, mount a spring seat to the frame. The fender attached to the swing arm creates the illusion that it's slammed. The fender to tire clearance does not impact suspension travel so you can go as low as you want.

I went with 11s on my bike but I 2-up ride frequently. Any time you lower the suspension you should stiffen things up a bit. I did run struts for a few years on my Sporty. I personally really liked they way they rode and for longer rides would change them out to shocks. I'm too much of an old man now for that. I run the 11s set as stiff as possible and have my front lowered with SE fork oil to stiffen that up. I love the road feel and ride quality now.
