That being said, I love this forum. I've learned a lot here. And...thanks to all the folks that were patient enough to answer all my questions.

Since we're on the subject of bitching about stuff.

Why is this place turning into the OFF TOPIC forum? Used to be you could read about Dyna related stuff.
It's been a long winter, and we're running out of things to talk about. It's now spring and all the mods are done!!

You know Joe, the search function kinda sucks.Even before it went down I tried to use it several times and rarely if ever did I find what I was looking for.Part of the problem is people often don't include what the subject of thier post is in the title of the thread.I don't know how many questions I've answered about fender chopping, pipe wrapping or flat track bars it would be allot easier if the search function was better but I can't even find my own threads with it.

Joe - I have to agree a bit with you as I have been visiting the forum less and less recently for this very reason (plus I got real busy on another front in my life). Maybe not good excuses, but when I see a question I may be able to add something to, I feel an obligation to respond, but it does get a wee bit tiring to be saying some of the same things over and over. Especially about shocks, seats, SERT, fork boots, etc.

BUT -- that being said, I learned an awful lot from other members that took the time to help me along (for which I am most grateful), and quite possibly they had done so a million times before for other members, so if I can help, there's this pay back thing I feel strongly about.

In any case, a little time learning how to use the SEARCH feature (practice, practice, practice) really can save a newbie a lot of time in the end, and ought to be the first avenue when in need. Then if any clarification is needed or more info, the member with the question can always reply to the original thread or PM a poster in that thread that might be able to help. Seems a bit obvious and can take some time, but in the end enhances the forum rather than repeating questions, and can move an existing thread along rather than repeat info or worse fail to get much response to a repeated or common question resulting in the newbie wondering why no one is helping.

The forum grows in weird and mysterious ways with the prospect of always being a valuable and quite interesting source of info, ideas, humor and friendship. To keep it that way we all need to be participating, helpful, curious and supportive. And most importantly perhaps is being considerate of others -- their time, their feelings, their needs, etc, etc. It has always been a great place to hang out and likely will continue to be however people choose to use it.

Joe, dude, MIDOL

Not really, I too use the search function all the time but I hate to discourage people from posting. I usually try and post that the subject has come up many times, did you try the search function, here's a link, blah blah.

You do post a lot, I can understand why this might get under your skin. Remember this is a forum of vast experience and age, people are lazy by nature, they will ask before searching.

Come to CO and I will buy you enough beer to make you not care.

Cheers

You know by looking at the join dates I am an old member, iI see it as if you are bothered so much by the same questions you might want to up your meds.I dont post alot, obviously by my post count. But every forum out there, I am a member of multiple jeep and truck forums, has the same problem. Same questions over and over. So it is not Dyna forum specific.

As for the off topic stuff some people that are forum specific, know people and want their opinion on the "off topic" question. People consider the other members as friends.

Well I have added my 2 cents... Thats the great thing about these forums. Opinions are like A$$es, everyone has one and they all stink!

Joe, it does get old, and in 05/06, when the "new" Dyna came out, nobody knew what fit what, where and how.
It was quite a learning experience for all of us.
The same same questions do get asked over and over again............... so just let someone answer them, now

The search engine is just a tool, which I generally try first...... it basically sucks, though. I have trouble finding my own old post for reference to others through the search engine.

What is frustrating me lately are the fuggin helmet, waving, gloves bullshit[:@][:@]............. that **** needs posted in the General forum, unless of course you mention a Dyna Glide model in the post

So what oil did you say you are drinking now Joe??Do you use your old muffler takeoffs as a bong? Can you drink regular gas, or does it give you heartburn??

Glad riding season is here!![sm=biker2.gif]

Search engine is the door to a fountain of Knowledge on this site. I use it constantly. Plus you get answers quicker when you use the search engine!

You might try the technical forums and others if yer tired of reading the same 'ol $hit here, I've said this before, once you get tired/or knowledgable enough beyond handlebars/pipes/air cleaners you should be on the tech forum anyway...the Dyna forum is fun, but any questions beyond the aforementioned topics go unanswered by the 'experts' so it is a self-perpetuating newbie board where the four star big shots get off on telling newbies what to paint black and what slip-ons to get blah and blah...or they're latest close call accident, or the most recent a$$hole who cut them off. I once saw a thread on here that asked what do people throw at the 'cagers' ?? pennies? ball-bearings??? WTF??
So, if you really want to learn more about your bike, go where there is some actual expert answers...or..you can stay on the Dyna forum and jerkoff with your 'buddies"
