Hi this is my first post. I am interested in purchasing a chrome engine dress up kit for my bike. I have a 2000 dyna superglide. I kinda don't want to spend all the money at the harley dealer for the parts and I also want something that will hold up.
Thanks,
In my experience, HDs chrome parts are good quality everytime, some of the after market stuff is good and some bad. So unless you know someone that has bought a certain part and will vouch for it's quality, I would stick to HD. Lots of time guys on here will tell you about their experiences with other manufacturers. IMHO.
I've also been considering adding chrome to my Dyna.
I don't think you'll find a better deal than the HD Chrome Engine Kit for Twin Cam-Equipped DynaÂŽ Models. It list for$699 less 20% if you go to one of the places like Zanotti's. You also get all of the gaskets which can be quite expensive if you buy them seperately.
I've got a 2002 Superglide I replaced all but one piece of polished aluminum with chrome, the only piece I haven't replaced is the tranny cover. When I had my cam tensioner shoes replaced thats when the chrome went on. If you haven't had this job done it's the perfect time to have it done.
If you dont want to spend it all at once, dont. Start with a little piece at a time, and dont exceed your mechanical abilities until you're comfortable doing so.
Whatever you do, start with the manual first. there's all sorts of little knuckle breakers to be found, and the book just might save you a box of bandaids...
