I would think that if you did the fall away test as described in the manual and your front end performs with the specs given, you should not have the clunk. This is assuming your greased bearings, races, and stem are in good shape.
So is doing the fall away check the correct way totroubleshoot this "clunking" issue?
If you have not heard and felt it, you do not have it.
Mine happens when I hit a certain type of quick dip in the road.
It does not happen every time, but when it does you will know it.
There is a dip on the little road I work on. If I hit it at around 30mph or less, it happens every time. Any faster andit does not do it.

Make sure they know about the service bulletin, just in case
