After seeing the posts earlier in the week I felt validated in what I'd been experiencing after getting my 07 Bob. Sure enough I took my bike in to my HD dealer today and they pulled the bulletin and made the fix in under an hour. No questions and I was even beyond my warranty.Immediate difference....Clunk gone! Just an FYI.
I just had them pull the bulletin for me as well. Will do at my next service. I have had this addressed several times and will be happy when it is fixed. Thanks....
What does the bulletin fix? ...i get a clunk here and there, but i'm pretty sure it's the front caliper
Service Bulletin M1215. Addresses loose steering head nut. The repair replaces the washer with a hardened one and the steering head nut and adjustment nut are re-torqued. The Service Bulletin increases the torque value on the steering head nut.
I had a freind drive mine home from the dealer and he mentioned a clunk from the front, but with the 200 miles I have put on it, I have yet to feel anything. How can I test it to see if the clunk is there. If I hit a speed bump or something should that set it off?
I did mine. Cost me about $5 for the part (a washer) and took me about 5 minutes. Cured the "clunk" that I got everytime I hit a rough spot on the road.
does the new washer have a tab on it that goes in the littlehole to hold it in place or is it just a round washer that is thicker? and also does anyone know how many ft/lbs to tighten the nut with the new washer? thanks
