I start mine this Thursday at the Naval Base in Philadelphia. The course is free and they let you use their little 250cc and once you pass the class you get your class M. PA you can renew your permit every year and ride legally but I sometimes take the bike to work out in New Jersey and would like to be legal.

Yes back in the 70's I too was told to ride around the parking lot, but first he sign all the paper work before i got on the bike , i was told once around the parking lot and head home ( some 65 miles) before i got caught in a April snow storm in Wyoming. I was on a Honda 400 T. never did see the snow that day, but in late may i did ride over the divide into Gran Tetons and up into Yellowstone, and on the way back had to stay over night at the Toeaege lodge until it stopped snowing. When I got back to Dubois Wyo I was told the next time to take the Police Car by my Chief Deputy, Oh Well. I just wanted to ride.

I have been riding since 1971 without a mc endorsement. In 2007 I decided to get mine because I was going to Daytona and didnt want the ticket. I live in the Chicago area and when I went to the course ( 18in apes ), I laughed when they said I had to go around those dammed cones. I told the guy I wont drop my bikeand the only way todo the rider course was with a 250cc bike. He agreed that the course needed to be updated and let me start further back than normal and I passed. It turns out he also rides and said he couldnt do the test with his HD either (RK). There is a place out here that brings little bikes and rents them to you for the test ($200). I see his trailer there everytime I go by the DMV.....
