I just picked up a med-low bar for my fxdc yesterday and I got the small taper rack that attaches to the rest. I might have opted for your setup had I seen it first. Either way, I think a small to medium backrest look fine on a Dyna and I will probably leave mine on cause it looks ok and gives you more flexible travel options for stowing stuff.
I think it looks good. It adds some balance to the chrome that you have. I use my rack all the time. I did not like mine at first, but it sure does come in handy.
I think some of these guys may be blowing some smoke your way. I wouldnt go as far a 'stupid', but it does take away from the bike a bit. "function' does that sometimes.
Not to worry your bike looks great with the rack,of course you could have just left your license plate alone and bolted a rack to your side plates and been just fine.
Ehhhh, the luggage rack is what it is. It's not supposed to add to the looks of the bike, Functionality is the name of the game. I have a bigger problem with that clear taillight with the tinted turn sigs than I do with the luggage rack!!!
