I am changing my turn signals and brake lights. All of the lights except the head light have been removed from the bike. I cut the wires on each of the front turn signals and installed connectors on the ends. I have not cut into any other wires. When I connected the left front turn signal it flashed irradically, then stayed on steady and then flashed rapidly. The head light is not on anymore but flashes whenI turn the signals on. Any suggestions?????????
I'd say the turn signal issue is because of a low amperage draw, similar to when you have a bulb burned out.
Proabaly won't blink correctly until you get all turn signals hooked up, or use a load equalizer.
As far as the headlight problem, sounds like some crossed wires.
But I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express.................
Sorry you're having problems. That is the main reason I have the dealer do all my wiring when I change lights. If you don't have a manual get one. It will pay for itself.
Thanks for the help. I thought too that I had a short but I didn't cut into anything else. Of course its possible when pulling the harness back to get at the head light something came loose. The blown bulb is also a good possibility.Tonight I'll put everything together and see if that works. Thanks for the advice on the manual but I have one a refer to it often but you are right in that mine has paid for itself. As far as going to a dealer,I'll probably get screwed in labor cost to run down the problem. I'd rather screw myself; it's alot more fun.
