I decided to get some parts powder coated. I found a shop that does great work and dropped off the parts. Here's the problem. They do incredible work but they are unreliable. I dropped the parts off last Tuesday and they were supposed to be done last Friday night or Saturday morning. I called them on Friday and they say we'll have it to you Saturday afternoon. No big deal. Saturday afternoon comes, I give them a call and they say we're sorry but they'll be ready Sunday morning. Sunday morning turns into Sunday afternoon. I go to pick the stuff up, which all came out great by the way, but they forgot to do my front turn signals, Kuryakyn clamps, and my air cleaner cover. They said the parts got pushed aside and they missed them. The owner says he will stay late and promises I will have them Monday. Ok, so I call on Monday and guess what, the parts are still not done. They swear 10:00 on Tuesday. Well I'm sitting here typing because they still aren't done. Now they say the parts will be done in a couple days. WTF. Here's my dilemma. These guys are the only shop in my area that does really good work. I tried a different shop first and it didn't go so well. I want to eventually have my forward controls and rear pulley done but do I go back to these guys and know that the day they say the parts will be done probably won't happen or do I find some one else who will probably do a worse job? Sorry for the long post, it's just frustrating because I want to ride my bike and it should be back together by now.
If the quality is that good and you know there are no other sources in your area, then it sounds like you have to sacrafice time for quality. Not a bad swap in my opinion but I'm not you and your not me.
At least the parts look good!! It beats the parts looking like $hit and getting them back in a day or two.
If it helps any, I UPS my parts to my dad, he powder coats them in his shop and ships them back.
Did you make them aware of the situation and your unhappiness with their customer service?
If so ,what did they offer you?
If they don't offer to bend over backwards to make things right, find another coater.
Like coastrider said, a little gas and time is well worth the aggravation factor, IMHO.
I would prefer quality and a little slow in the turn-around. Just about anything else you do will still take as much time and you may not get the quality. Maybe they missed that day in school when the teacherexplained how the clock works...
