Default Corbin Dual Tour seat?

Hello fellow Dyna riders,

SO i just purchased my first Harley last week (FXDC) and i am loving it. Now comes the fun part of begining the customization of my new lady and first order of business would be a new seat.I have been looking over the forums and one post recommended the Corbin Dual Touring model. I have had a chance to browse their website and i really like the look of it (and the potential comfort). SO i guess im looking for some backing on this possible new purchase as it is a bit pricey.

PLease let me know if you have it, like it, or would recommend something else. Again im trying to go for maximum comfort riding 2 up and also something that looks halfway decent.

Thanks!!

What are your plans for a backrest? The Corbin you can get a backrest for the passenger, and also the bracket for the operator. You can change the backrest from front to rear, so if you are solo you can change it to the front hole for you, or to the back for the passenger. I don't think it would pay to buy 2 backrests though, I dont think the passenger would like the backrest installed up front, too crowded.
Remember you don't have to order that chrome trim on back, that's an option-only and doesn't really "fit" most Dynas, unless you really went with lots of chrome and fringe type trim.
When you order I recommend specifying NO "welting" at all, nice clean look and better feel when riding. They can do that, that's the Corbin advantage, you can spec it out lots of different ways at no charge.

Just another option, i looked at the corbin and really liked it but it is pricy. I ended up getting a HD sundowner at one of the local dealers 20% off sales. Cost about $200. Love the seat for comfort and wife is very happy. You can find a lot of them on ebay also. Might be worth a try due to the cost difference. Also if the dealer has one you could probably put it on your bike and check it out before you buy.

I had one on my 2000 dyna for 5 years. A little pricey true, but very comfy...about the best your gonna do for a dyna anyway. Looks like hell because of the size (any big touring seat will). My suggestion...whichever seat you get... keep the stock seat orif it came with a solo seat keep it.

i have the dual tour on my streetb0b. i think it is the best touring seat, but thats my opion. plus i think it is the best looking touring seat out there, not over bulky looking. if you do decide to buy one, make sure you break it in before judging it. the corbin has to form to your ****. jackyl

Thanks for the input guys.

I know this topic has been beaten to death but just dont want to go spending over 500 bucks for a seat without some feedback.

My "real" review, and I have had 2 Corbins on my Beemer (first one I finally considered worn out after, oh crap, 10 years?? And probably 60K miles?), is that it really is a nice product. I don't agree with those who say it has to break in/form itself to your butt. Mine have both been comfortable out of the box. The latest one is better on long distances because I tole them NO welting. That's the beading sort of stuff that usually is between the leather panels. I can show you a pic of what it looks like without the welt. I could feel that in my inner thigh on longer trips. The seats, to me, really look better without it, a cleaner look.
The Backrest is a definite plus. If you don't think you would ever use it up ront, these seats can be totally custom. Most of which is free. They can leave the front seatrest bracket off and only the rear bracket in, or neither, any combination. The backrest is an extra couple hundred I believe, but compared to the Harley backrest, it's not too bad. You can adjust the angle of the backrest too, using an allen wrench, easy to do.
Many many color and material options. You can use leather in the seating area but they want you to use vinyl on the side panels, they say leather is not as good on the side panels operationally. On my ltest Beemer seat I used a dark gray leather on the seating area and black vinyl on the sides, looks great. Very flexible company to get the look you want. THAT all being said, my wife insisted on having "HER SAY" in the new fat Bob and said she wanted a Sundowner with Haulen *** backrest. I got the Sundowner, still stalling on the Haulen ***, will have to get that soon. I think it was a mistake, hell I even have the backrest from the Beemer that would work in another Corbin seat! OH WELL, have to keep the woman happy. Still shocked she didn't shoot down this whole Harley purchase.
