belt tension from lowering
but if you've lowered your rear end at all with say, prog 412s, 440s, etc....you may need to tighten the tension on your belt
i put prog 440s on as part of my winter mods, and after having everything put back together and riding over the last 2 weeks i began to hear a squeeky sort of chirping sound coming from underneath me....at first, i thought it might have been just my imagination due to rider fatigue or something....anyway, this morning i put the bike on the lift and started cleaning the rear rim....and as i'm turning it, i heard a squeeking sound...so as i'm turning it i decide to rest my fingertips lightly on the surface of the belt under the deflector and sure enough, i could feel the vibration of the squeek/rub....it was the belt.
i took off the chrome deflector cover, pressed the deflection, and without using the tool (which i don't have) the belt was at least 3/8 out of spec....it virtually deflected the entire width of the deflection window....adding some pressure to the belt with my index finger (like a tensioner) and turning the wheel eliminated the squeek....i'm going out to adjust it all now
just thought i'd inform
