Beginning to think about getting an FXDX. Anyu particular year(s) stand out as good bikes?
What was the last year?
Did they all have triple disks?
What years were they fuel injected?
Any other features/options to look for?
Hi MMH , I have an 07 super glide FXD . It is very bare bones but that is what I like . I just put on a corbin set and rinehart slip-on . The bike runs great and I love the way it handles because it is on the lighter side at about 645 lbs . I think the look of the Dyna is classic HD. Well good luck I hope I help .

Thanks!
last year was 2005
dual disks in front. single in the rear
Some of them were fuel injected in 04 and 05, but not all.
make sure the rear suspension has not been replaced with a cheaper set of shocks
I have an '01 FXDXT; I was looking for an '01 or '02 to get the timken bearing as I have pushed mine up to a hot 103". Also, some rear-end specific accessories are made for '02; seperate from '01...FXDXT is the same but with a fork mounted fairing and detachable bags...FXDXT's were made '01 - '03.Both FXDX's and FXDXT'shave triple discs but only the FXDX was available with wire wheels. I believe some FXDX's were made in '99 but had single pot brakes and didn't have the good rear shocks.....
'01 FXDXT Ultra-Lite Classic
103 by HQ
some aluminum and some composite
goes good
handles OK
Sharkey,
You're right about there being 99 FXDX's. But in 99, the front end wasn't adjustable and the rear shocks where just standard 13" shocks. Also right about the brakes being single piston. They had duals up front, but single piston calipers. Here's one I put together for a guy...99 FXDX.

Been gone for a few days; that's a sharp looking '99. Real clean; not gaudy. Are those mid-glide trees or is that just the photo angle playing with my old eyes??? So, in effect, a '99 FXDX is just an FXD with twin discs up front...
Pretty much I suppose. Still a really nice bike. I'm trying to figure out braking questions right now on my new 08 street bob. About o make a new post...hopefully someone will know the answers!
Had an 01 FXDXT that I traded for an 00 FLTR so me & the o/l would have more room for our long ride. It was jade sunglow and looked sharp!Am thinking bout getting another to use as a go to work bike .[sm=biker2.gif]
I keep hearing people talking about the timken bearing motors being better 01-03, Timken is a brand of bearing, my understanding is what they are really talking about is tapered roller bearings that limit side to side crankshaft movement, no issues with gear drive cames with these motors!
