Default Cobra Speedster Longs install

I have done a search for prior exhaust install threads and couldn't find any. I was wondering about whether or not it is best to get a new gasket and I was also wondering about keeping modifying or getting rid of the Baffles. I am the guy who likes obnoxiously loud pipes (feel free to give me the finger as I ride by your house at 6:00am.) I don't however want to sacrifice performance for sound.

Can't offer any help about the baffles. As far as the doughnut gaskets, they should be replaced. I took advice of several other members and used the standard gaskets instead of the Screamin Eagle gaskets.

I did the speedster slashdowns on my bobbah and for the 6 bux for the Screamin Eagle gaskets, do it! Installation is very simple but you'll need a 90 degree pick to snag them out.

They come with baffles and they are necessary for backpressure. I wouldn't mess with them. The pipes sound great right out of the box. Plenty of attitude when you romp on it but very bearable at cruising speeds.

I had the cobra speedster slash cut installed on my 2007 FXDSE, I love the sound, nice rumble and plenty loud enough, as far as the gaskets, I have no ideal as for I had the dealer install my pipes they used what ever cost the most, and that is the one thing I am the most sure of.

Cornbread, to answer your question, no I did not install any fuel management. I had stage 1 upgrade done at the dealership when I bought my scoot. That included SEII slip ons and an air cleaner. I believe they remapped the ECU for stage 1 too.

I then put on the entire Cobraexhaust this season. I also had my bike dyno-checked for my Air/Fuel ratios after my pipe installand they are right where they should be under open throttle tests. My bike runs pissah.

I don't know what year your scoot is but if it's fuel injected, I wouldn't mess with that either. Bolt the pipes on and plug in the02 sensors and get it dyno-checked for your Air/Fuel and powerband. Then make a decision on fuel management because you probably don't need it. Do this 1 step at a time.

My bike is averaging 13.4:1 Air/Fuel with the stock ECU under full throttle tests. That's acceptable. If you get your dyno numbers and you're running consistently 14.5-15+ or more then you're too lean andI would consider fuel management or a remap to optimize it.

Also, a very good thread is going on about this topic. Look up "stage 1 advice"
