It does look pretty simple, but my machinist skills aren't really that good. I could fashion a functional plate/bracket combination, but I have a feeling it wouldn't look that good and for I'm willing to take a chance on a $29.00 item. Time invested vs. cost sort of thing.
It just want to find one made in the states that doesn't cost $300, everything else seem to be made in Taiwan. I thought Bubba's Brakes made one but can't find it on their site.
Check out the Alloy are strut mount signals. They are flush mount to the strut and you would not even know they are there unless you were looking for. I have a set here but it is already sold or I'd open it and take some pics. http://www.powersportsnetwork.com/en...tCategoryCode= I can get them for you for a lot less than listed in that page. The Eliminator from Cycle Visions is also a great option. Here is apic of the eliminator. They make it for all models although this is on a bagger.

The eliminator plate will work on your Dyna. I have not seen one with a bobbed fender yet but I would guess it will hand down over the edge a tiny bit. The AA signals only come in chrome. A friend with a night train got them powder coated black and the look great.
