I also have been thinking about a new speedometer because mine has water in it so it fogs up and I sometimes cannot read the odometer. I know it is not because of my washing the bike but the dealer washed it a couple times and I have been caught in some pretty hard rain. Nothing like my '92 Sportster that had some really heavy rain and never did leak. The dealer says HD won't replace the speedo unless it is unreadable when dry. If I replace it myself, what assurance do we have that the new units you describe won't leak also? This is bad but a leak in a new $500 unit would really be discouraging.

$400 is a steal for us in the UK right now as the Stealers here do a £1 per $1 conversion as near as dammit when the real exchange rate for us is around $2 to £1 - what I need is for someonefrom the forum to pick one up that I've bought from a Stealer locally to themand then send it to meand I'll send them the P&P costs. I could even givethe stealer the milaged that I want on the new speedo so it would be all good to go when I got it.
