I'm looking to add some passenger pegs to my 08 FXD. From what I've seen so far it looks like they mount right to the front of the swingarm.
Is this correct?
My buddy has a 04 lowrider which are mounted to the frame. Would be kinda weird having your feet moving up and down with the rear end travel.
If anyone can point me in the right direction (other than the overpriced HD site) that would be great.
-Thanks
Yes they mount to the swing arm. I bought mine at the stealer they were about $80 if I remenber correctly, you will have to buy some pegs to with them which is about another $50. The side with the belt can be tricky to install, but it can be done without loosening the rear wheel like the instructions say. My wife says she does not feel the swing arm moving when she rides with me.
Passengers I've had don't really notice the movement. The pegs are very close to the pivot of the swingarm, so it gets lost in the "yee-haw" factor of riding.
Not sure how lucky you'll be finding non-Harley peg mounts for an FXD. I don't think there's a brisk, lucrative market to attract competition.
Check out ebay, just type in Harley Davidson Dyna Passenger Peg Mounts, should work I bought mine off their, got the chrome ones for like $20, but I did have to go to the dealer and buy the mouting bolts, another $5 I think
