Get the Dyna first. It will match what you describe as your riding style. When you decide to try longer trips and have the time, add the bagger. That's my plan. I test road and rented lots of Harleys and the SuperGlide just did what I wanted it to do. Everybody is different and a seat of the pants test is the best. I am 56, and was without a ride for about 6 years. I grew up in the dirt and then moved to on-off road bikes. I have had the SG for a year now and I am not disappointed at all. As I said, a bagger may be in the future when I have more time to ride. [sm=biker.gif]

Nothing beats the baggers for outright highway cruising. I rode a buddy's StreetGlide about 100 miles a couple weeks ago and could've gone a couple hundred more, no problem. After 100 miles on the SB I'm ready to get the hell off! The SB can't be beat for banging around town, which is mostly whatI do,as its very agile and relatively quick.

Same diff eh? PIC

From what I read somewhere, the Dyna or one of its ancestors, was originally designed as a turing bike for the European market. My next bike is gonna be a bagger so the Mrs and I are more comfy on long trips, but right now the Dyna is fine. I may feel different after my 2K+ mile ride to and from the 105th this Summer. I'm renting an EG this weekend (on a business trip with a free weekend) so I'll be a bit more educated on what I'm talking about too!

I'm with the peeps who voted both. I have a Road King now, but as soon as finances allow I will be adding another bike to the stable. Kind of leaning toward the Fat Bob for the 2nd bike. If you are only going to get 1 (or 1 at a time) I'd probably say bagger just because of the versatility.

Dyna will work just fine for you. Might want to consider a used one if long term plans call for touring.
+1 With jackyl. I can bag mine up in a matter of minutes and be down the road. I got back on a bike after 40 years and bought an 03 XLH 883 Sportster. Lasted 3 months on that, any ride over 150 miles became painful. Can go 10 hours a day on the Lowrider in comfort, but I can see a Street Glide or Road King in the very near future. The Dyna is a blast to ride the twisties with and handles about as well as the Sporty did.

rmatt34,

Thanks for the response. Paying cash so not concerned about the money or last payment. Love the Street Glide too!
I have a Street Glide and a Super Glide. No contest, the Street Glide wins hands down. Buy the dyna if you want, but you will buy a bagger later.

That advice seems somehow vaguely familiar..... If the Street Glide wins , what was the compitition..sure as hell wasn't a race!!!!
