I'm calling out to the people with lots of expeirience here , sadly I was told not to run my new bike too hard for the first 1000 miles,so off I went and even though ,of course ,I didn't go too crazy, now that the initial break in period is done i opened her up to find out just what she gives to find out I was already close to the point she don't give any more [X(]. I never really pushed it too hard though and only felt her even out at the top once. Should it still be ok only time will tell I guess. I know harley engines a built tough but it being a twin cam 96 does anyone think I will have shortened her life span?[&o] Now that break in is over i realize Iprobably should have have gone easier on it since the 1000 miles were done in less than 3 weeks,and now i could have beeen at peace for the next ten to fifteen years! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO F__K I can really be an oaf sometimes!
Mine hit the rev limiter within the first 10 miles. Felt like it was pulling good so I left the hammer down, only to find that the limiter kicks in just when the going gets good. Thats why it's on there! I hit it many more times within the first thousand miles and it runs like a champ. No worries.
