Well i was on my way sunday after a brief rainfall to drop my bike off for its free 1000 mile service. the roads had mostly dried up so i left around 1 30. i was about 2/3 of the way there on a four lane highway traveling in yhe third lane a foot from the line i was only going about 55-60 when a suv decided to change from 4th lane to my lane with out using directional clipping the front of my bike sending me into an uncontrolable tank slap. i then wobbled back into the suv at an angle that trapped me between the bike and the suv's rear tire for about 10 seconds it felt like a lifetime so i am being run over continuously by the rear tire when my arm is sucked under. the whole time the woman driving the suv is still trying to enter my lane which caused me to be trapped turns out she is deaf and never new i was there i guess she couldnt tell she was repeatedly running me over. so the bike and i finally break free where i finally tumble down the highway and the final slide i am facing four lanes of oncoming traffic praying they will stop which they did. so a group of bikers leaving a blessing that day see me laying on the pavement and i beg them to help me up as i dont feel comfortablr laying there so they do and help me hobble to the barrier so i can hold myself up that is when i look at the aftermath and realise i am still alive and how lucky i am that no one else ran me over. a great friend of mine was on his way to get me at the stealer after i dropped the bike off see's me and comes running across the four lanes of traffic to check on me. h e is amazed i am still alive as well. i was wearing my helmet a harley nylon jacket jeans gloves boots the helmet saved my life the jacket held up and protcted me as well. rescue arrives and takes me to the hpspital which is the exit the wreck happend in front of. i spent 3 days there i have abroken left arm both bones and a sprained ankle. i am very lucky to be alive and no one can believe that is all i suffered from. my wife is a mess and just very thankfull i am still breathing my 6 and 3 year old daughters are relieved daddy is home.i will be out of work for 4 months they put metal plates in my arm and my hands are my lively hood. the ankle is very sore but all in all i am thankfull to enjoy more days on this earth with my family. i think the bike is pretty wrecked i might go take pictures with the wife today. i definatley want to get back on it but dont see it happening this year. if it isnt totaled my buddy helped put it on the flatbed and he said it is pretty fuc$edup. oh well it could be worse it just sucks cause i waited yearsto get my first harley and this happens.
Wow! glad to hear you are ok. Sounds like a very tramatic experience. It always amazes me how people pay so little attention while driving. Anytime I driving my truck and a motorcyclist is around, I get clear of them and stay clear by either dropping back or pulling ahead. It really depends on their speed.
I hate to say this but you need to lawyer up now. She ran you over, her insurance has to pay. I'd like to say I am suprised you were run over by a woman in an SUV but sadly I'm not. I was struck by a woman driver who cost me more than a few months of my life.
I will put you in my prayers, and I am thankful you are alive and will recover.
Wow - asa new rider myself this even shakes me up a bit. But I think more so I worry about my husband on his bike so I can understand your wife. That sucks about the Harley. The SUV driver's insurance should cover the damage to the bike so I would look into that. In fact, your own insurance company should be going after her for the damages.
Hey Dutch I am glad to hear that you are OK - sorry to hear about the bike, being so new and all. I really admire your courage to want to get right back on as soon as you are able. Chin up mate - you'll be dining out on the story before you know it.
As the other rightly say the SUV driver should cough up for your bike, anyuninsured losses and for you injuries / pain and suffering. Did the Cops get involved?
i sure could have been much worse. glad your wife and daughters still have you around. the bike can be replaced. we always need to watch for morans who dont pay attention. i hope you heal quickly
