Default Bad news!

wellI got the estimate from the dealer to repair my FXDC from the wreck a couple of weeks ago, around $13000!!!

Needless to say the insurance company is going to total it for sure. I barely got 2 months out of that bike (just got it in Feb.)

Now I don't know what I'm going to do? My brother says I will eventually get some type of settlement from the accident for "pain & suffering", but how long will that be and what kinda money are we talking here?

I figured at some point down the road I might add a Street Glide and then really trick out my Dyna. Maybe I should take the money and just get the Street Glide now, and then later on get another scoot to trick out?

I'm ready to start pulling my hair out!!

Sorry about your lose man. I'd take the money and get another scoot. At least you would be back on two wheels. Good Luck.

Ride Safe.

Wow that sucks - I am really sorry mate. My advice, forwhat its worthis to sit down and write down the pros and cons of each decision and take it from there. Don't make a hasty decision that you might regret later.

Have you seen an injuries claim lawyer to see what your chances are of a uninsured loss and pain and suffering claim. I don't understand how insurance in the U.S. works but from what I am reading on the forum we, on the most part, have it much better here in Europe.

Damn!! What's important is that you are in one piece. Take your time and use the money to get what you want. Nothing wrong with Street Glide. Just be sure to take care of business and get everything you need before doing anything.

+1 - Take your time and do everything by the book. Shop around and get exactly what you want. Sorry about the hassles you are going through.

Do you have a lawyer? Have you seen a doctor and is there ongoing treatment?

I'm wrapping up the legal process after a bad car wreck for which the other driver was at fault. In my case, I have had chiropractic treatments three times a week since March 1st and have been to daily physical therapy since late April. I started riding again a couple of weeks ago. My lawyer hasn't given me a clue about what to expect or when to expect it. My neighbor works for a major insurance company as an adjuster and told me that typically the insurance company settles for triple the amount of the medical expenses. The lawyer gets his 33%, the medical provider gets paid, and the plaintiff gets the remaining 33%. Dr. visits, x-rays, MRIs, etc really add up fast. Add missed work and any scarring and you might do ok. In my case, I don't want a huge payday. I want my car replaced and my bills covered.

Personally, I loathe lawyers. but in this case, the other insrance company would have rolled over me like a steamroller. Sun Tzu said it best in "The Art of War": The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
