Get the manual & do yourself. It's really not that hard & manual is pretty much step by step.

I even have the service manual and parts book for the wifes golf cart. Wouldn't touch anything without them...that said; I replaced my starter and batt cables last night and it was a breeze with the books. Also, I can order any parts needed by number rather than a vague description...I've no formal mechanical training; only mechanical aptitude and the knowledge that if I can do it I'll do it without concern for the time it takes to do it right. I don't get into the engine internals, though...better qualified people around for that.

Yeah; get them from the dealer and avoid the generic knock-off books...the dealer ones are worth it.

The service manual was my first purchase after I bought the bike. When my warranty ends I will do more than the routine service that I am doing now. Right now, I figure that they owe me the work and I have always taken small satisfaction in making a dealer, no matter what brand, do warranty work. I feel a little like Don Quixote fencing at windmills when I do that but I can't help it.
The only thing about more in-depth work is the various special tools that are required for certain jobs. I have always managed to improvise with all the automobiles that I have worked on and it might be that I can do the same with the bike.I'm about toorder the parts manual and will probably getit online if the price is better than the local dealer.
