Default Painting silver engine covers??

Has anyone painted their stock-silver-painted engine covers (like the ones that come on the current FXD)? What kind of paint did you use? How has it held-up so far?

Thanks!
Greg

Wow! Nobody has painted their engine covers or knows someone who has??

How about some theory? If you were going to do it, what paint would you use?

if you mean the inner and outer primary covers, cam cover and trans cover. i believe they are silver powdercoated. i didnt paint my covers, i powdercoated them with black wrinkle powder coating. im not sure how well paint would hold up but i guess it would.. if i were you and you were going to remove the covers then i'd powdercoat them..you will be glad you did...i hope this helps..

Yes, those are the ones I meant. Did you also paint/powder-coat your heads black? Looks nice!

yea i do my own powdercoating.i have my own powder booth and oven..so far i've coated my inner and outer primary, cam and trans covers..i have coated my bottom and top rocker covers, both my battery cover and fuse box cover and my belt guard. all were done in black wrinkle..i did the primary, cam and tran covers back in dec. 06 and my rocker covers about 8months ago and they are holding up with no scratches or chips at all..powder is alot tougher than paint..
