Default Painting question

Has anyone painted any of their engine components (i.e. primary covers, cam cover, trans top cover, trans side cover, rocker box covers...) pretty much any of the textured covers on the motor/trans. Smooth items I am good with, textured...to be determined. Harley has the new tuxedo finish engine covers...but that would be $400-$500. What about powder-coating these textured items? I am leaning more towards painting since I have gotten fairly decent at it.

I've painted the factory silver powder coat with satin black from a rattle can and it turned out great. Make sure it's very clean and degreased. No sanding required. I don't have pics cause it was my buddy's bike but it's been almost 2 years and it still looks great. Btw it was Rustoleum satin black.

I painted all of the engine covers on my bike and ended up with show quality results. The first thing that I did is cleaned the parts inside and out to eliminate all possible grease. I lightly sanded the pieces, then sprayed a thin coat of etching primer, then I sprayed several coats of 2k filler primer. I sanded the pieces with 320 until all of the texture was gone then finished up with 600. Then I just painted the pieces like i would anything else.
