To each their own, but if you can't us the hammer on and around your scoot, you probably shouldn't be working on it. A hammer is a precision tool and besides, the wall on the filter is not very thick. Your call though man, good luck.
Yeah, well call me crazy but I like using the correct tools for the job. Just easier IMO.

So if you you can't use a chainsaw on or around your patient then you probably shouldn't be a brain surgeon?

If you decide to go the BFH route, be aware that you are going to hose your front motormount down with oil. I use the same wrench that I use on my car for my bike. I also went out and spent $4.00 on thin flexible cutting boards that will make 6 drip guards to protect that same motormount from oil. They will last for years. Just cut to size and slip under the filter before you loosen it and no oil on you motor.

Just go to an auto parts store and buy one that works with a ratchet wrench and clamps down as you turn it...

I'd recommend a good strap wrench. Use one whenever the oil filter wrenchwon't get it done. Hasn't failed me yet.

I got the wrench at Autozone. I think it is a 15 sided one where a car wrench is a 14 or vice versa.

I agree w/ woolf! I've had to use screw stick on an F-16 filter! It's a pain in the @ss but works! I'd probably buy the HD tool for a later date! LOL
