Default GVWR question

I did do a search on this subject but I'm still having doubts about safety. My wife and Ijust got back froma 500 mile weekend ride. Prior to leaving I put 40psi in the rear tire and cranked the shocksup three notches. Anyway,we pulled onto a weigh station scale on ourway home and found that with half a tank of gas the total weight was 1,140 lbs! I know per the manual the max is 1,085 lbs. The problem is along with the tourmaster sissy bar luggage that we use on the bike I also want to add Boss Bags to put our sleeping bags in. So I'm looking to add another 25 lbs of accessories. That would bring the weight up to 1,165 lbs which is 80 lbs over.
Is this a good idea when you want to do two up riding for 400 to 500 miles aday? The bike performed great, I just wonder about mid summer with the tires running at 75mph on asphalt that has a 150 degree temperature.

By the way the bike is a 2007 FXDC. The bike spends most of its time with just me on the back. The two up is maybe twice a month.

I also want to thank everyone for the valuable information on this site. With everbodies help I have installed forward controls myself along with a set of ape hangers. After looking at everybodies feed back, Boss Bags are in the near future. I have also learned not to post anything about chaps, gloves, anything with a fringe and that black bikes are faster (mines Pewter Pearl).

Thanks
