Have you put any lubricant on the beads (as the tyre specialists do) this will help the tyre "slide" up the rim. I have used washing up liquid in the past to this, theninflate withplenty of air ideally with a forecourt compressor where you can put in 40 psi fast. Remember to drop back to correct pressure after. Also give the tyre / rim a good wash after to remove the lubricant.
Hope this helps.

i used silicone lub. spray.. i had no problems getting the old tire off and the new tire on but it seems that the beads are setting towards the center of the tire instead of the outer edges of the rim were the beads seat...thanks for the reply

Dave
Out of curiosity, did you remove the core out of the valve stem?

I agree with the lubricant or soappart. another trickis totake a piece of rope or something like a 12guage wire and wrapping it around the center of the tire and twisting the two ends with a stick winding it upto pull inward on the center of the tire which pushes the inside edges out and away from one another. Glad you got it though.

silicone dries to fast, use some of your wives dish washing liquid to lube the bead of the old and new tire and it will bead right up and the old one will slip right off this will help you next time
