Default Passenger seat problem

I bought an 08 street bob about a month ago and i had the dealer put on a passenger pillion. I went to remove it to go with the solo look and they put the pads on the fender. What should i do to fix this. Can you put pads on the seat or what is the best solution here? any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what to do to correct that, but yes, you can put the pads on the pillion. That's where mine are. Work just fine.

In the dealership's defense, the pads are installed on the fender from the factory for use with the stock two-up seats.

Yes, the pads can be adhered to the bottom of the seat. If done this way and there is any dirt on the fender, the rubbing of the pads will scratch and leave marks in the paint. Constant care is needed to prevent this from happening.

If a dealer had installed these pads on the bottom of my seat, and I was unaware of the risks, and my fender became scratch, I would likely be pissed at them for doing it this way. They are often damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Certain mods and alterations should be performed according to what is best to the individual owner. The MoCo and dealers are not going to be able to accommodate everyone.

Mine, of course, came with a 2-up seat and the rubber bumbers were stuck to my fender. They pulled off easily though and still had enough stick to themto put them on the bottom of the seat instead. Very common thing to do and it's also very common for HD and/or a dealer to put them on the fender, not on the seat. If nobody is sitting on the seat, it is possible for even the pads to rubyour paint and cause damage, so that's the reason for putting them on the fender instead of the seat. I don't run my 2-up seat, though, unless I'm riding 2-up so there's always weighton the seat and the pads don't rub the paint.

so what your saying i could do would be to take them off and put them on the seat but only use the seat if someone will be riding.......i have no problem leaving it the way it is right now but i just thought it would be coolto take the passanger pillion off for awhile......i guess i could leave the pads on the fender and just say forget it since no one would be able to tell unless the thing was parked anyway

I added a 2 up seat when I bought it, and guess what? no foam cushions on fender or seat. I just have two at front on fender under rider seat, not passenger. now my fender have superficial paint scratches, How will this come off? waxing and high power buffing?????

When I bought my 2 up Sundowner, I had to buy a bumper kit. The instructions said to stick the bumpers to the fender, it even came with a location sheet for the fender. I got some suction cups and drilled holes in the bumper and place the cups in the holes. The idea was to have the cups protect the paint from the hard rubber bumpers. After 2 yrs, I do have circles in the paint froml the cups. For me, it's a small price to pay so my wife can ride with me. Do a search, some have used felt and even a mouse pad to protect their paint.

I think the scratches are thru the clear coat and into the color. I don't believe they will buff out.
