Default Carb question

my buddy who is a mechanic told me that if your engine is fuel injected (like the newer harleys) that you wont have to rejet the carbs if you get pipes on the bike. i figure he knows more than me but i just wanted to know what you guys all think

Well, having fuel injection means there is no carb, so that's true, but fuel injection still needs to be tuned when you add pipes. Having a carb'd bike, I can't speak for the specific mods injected bike owners need to do but I'm someone here with an injected bike will chime in.

Yea, FI is great but a pain also. You'll need some way to reprogram the computer (PCIII/SERT/Race Tuner), their connections, and a way to get it to a computer (laptop). Even if
you take it to the dealer after putting on the pipes, they are gonna want to install the HD race tuner to program the bike for you (which I think is a crock of you know what). Call
your dealer, or a reputable bike shop that plays with FI, and they can give you an idea of what its gonna cost. Its a big investment, but if you plan to make other changes, it'll
be easier down the road.
