Problem solved, I removed the emblems. What a piece of crap tin emblem, had to be made in china. Now to decide what if anything to put back on.
I tip my hat. I've been thinking about debadging myself, but have been hesitant...we pay a lot of coin for that badge, you know? I'm also a little concerned that the paint might have faded a bit on the rest of the tank, leaving an imprint. I guess i could always put the badges back if that's the case.
Ouch...yea that 3M double sided tape will hold anything...
Off-topic, but relevant to 3M double-sided...it's a great way to put on a left-side grip. You put a few wraps of it on the bar, take off the covering, then slather a bit of mineral spirits on. The mineral spirits make the adhesive nice and slick. Slding the grip on is a breeze. After the spirits dry, the grip is plenty secure.
I had fading on mine, but can only see it when it's wet. Weird, but I don't worry about it as I just won't ride in the rain. If I had known how thin and cheap the emblems were, they would have been gone the day after I got the bike.
I noticed that corner of mine was coming up from way back. And yeah, that badge is a bit...insubstantial? Some of the classic badges you can buy might be a better bet, but I keep looking at the beautiful black denim and thinking that everything would flow better without that thing. It reminds me of what car dealerships slap on a car. But it says Harley Davidson, dammit!
shed the emblems??? I thought only the metric boys and girls were embarassed about the make of bike they ride
Yep, I had this 'older gemntelman' say "what is that a Honda" to me today while filling up[&:]
But he was pretty cool after all, it turns out he had a Triumph Bonneville, back in the day....
