Default I can't $%#&ing decide!

SERT, TMax, Daytona TT, PC3.... I'm losing my mind!

I've read the owners manuals...installation guides....reviews.... spent DAYS on this forum doing research....reading pros and cons

I have a headache!

HELP!

I mean, I'm very good with a wrench and not stupid (graduate degree in education).... but i'll be damned if I can decide on a fuel management device!

...for what it's worth, I'm leaning towards a TMax with Autotune

Welcome to the club. Still running it around in my mind. I like the SERT because it is HD and is only a download and doesn't add anything to the mess under the seat but I don't like the priceplus the cost of 2-3 hours of dyno time. Good luck.

Ride Safe.

An autotune device is the a good way to go if you have the bucks to spend. A simple thing to remember is once you get your bike tuned why do you need anything thant cost alot. Saving a buck toward something else on the bike its really the way to go. To me its money in the end. All in all, all ofthe fuel solutions should work well , the lower cost ones just take a little more to tune but save you some bucks in the long run.

Hey,

I've been running a PCIII since last year. Got it from Fuelmoto, which alot here do. Its been decent. An auto tune would be nice, but I see about the same problems with that as I see with all of them. I think the EFI section has complaints on all of them. With that said, my PCIII came with a preloaded map, which I didn't use because it was too lean, but I've done alot of playing around with it. I keep coming back to a canned map from Powercommander for my 2-1. It doesn't run perfectly smooth, but runs good enough. Lots of power and cool engine. I will just have to break down and get it dyno-tuned one of these days, but until then it runs good. I only spent $276. If I had spent $600 or $700on a T-max and still needed to get a dyno-tune, that would be irritating.
So my opionion is: If you could install the T-max and for sure not need a dyno-tune, then that would be the way to go. If you're gonna need a dyno-tune anyway or you're ok with the bike running good, but not perfect then you might as well spend less and get something like the PC. My .02.

Option to seriously consider!

SERT and go to Latus and ask if they have a MAP for your set up. $50.00. http://www.harley-davidson-forum.net/index.php

I have had a PCIII and TMAX (07 Heritage) and now SERT (08 SG).

SERT with Latus MAP is the best of the 3.

I feel what ever you decide on you will still question your decision.
I have the se pro race tuner, tuned by the dealer, runs like a raped ape but
have some low rpm afr concerns. I found an indy shop about 5 mi. from the house,
a real nice looking place, they do everything in house, the owner gave me a tour of the shop,
everything was brand new almost looked unused, boaring mach, mill, flow bench, dyno room,
ect. It was weird, he was the only one there at 2 in the afternoon. (and his hands were clean)
Anyway I just stopped in to see what they charge for a tune, we go out to look at my bike and he doesn't
recognize se heads, or pipes, but ask if I have a stage 1 after seeing the a/c.
I tell him it has the pro tuner, he says I need the PClll, "the pro tuner cant do the things the PClll can"
and "I'll install it for free!"
Well, thanks to the folks on this forum I know this to be untrue, and all dyno techs are not created equal.
You might be better off finding a good dyno tech first.

It is frustrating, I started out with a DFO at the recomendation of at least 3 independant wrenches. I hated it, the bike never ran right backfiring all the time and nothing you could do with the DFO could fix it.So then I bought a SERT and took to tuner and had a custom map made for it on a dyno. The bike still runs great just wish I would have gone with the SERT to start with.Good luck.

I was in the same boat and wanted to keep all my mods screaming eagle but in the end I got a pc 111 from fuel moto and installed it myself with there pre-loaded map , so far it has run great I just couldnt justify the extra 300.00 dollars for the sert thats money I can put toward a performance exhaust system.

My PC III works great!

If I could do it again, I'd go SERT in a heartbeat!!!

no matter what you choose, if you don't tune it on a DYNO, you will be leaving some performance on the table. DYNO tune should be considered MANDATORY.
