Default Pull Back Risers 2008 superglide custom.

Want to put pullback risers on my 2008 superglide custom. What will I have to change? brake line, clutch cable, etc ? Maybe 2.5" to 4" risers. How long should the brake lineand clutch cable be?

Howard.

I recently put 2.5" pullback risers on my 2007 FXDC Super Glide Custom. No problems with cables. Could have gone to 3" pullback risers no problem. Maybe even 4" but I am not sure. Along with the forward controls and Mustang vintage solo seat, the 2.5" pullback risers resolved my back-of-the-neck cramps that I got when the bike was stock and the seating position was all hunched over. Now my seating position is just fine and I am no longer hunched over. The 2.5" pullback risers were the last part of getting my seating position correct.

I got the 2.5" pullback risers from JP Cycles. JP Cycles P/N: 5000022. You can reuse your two Harley-Davidson riser bolts. Also, while you can reuse your Harley-Davidson top-clamp, you will need new, shorter top clamp bolts. This is because the pullback risers are not drilled all the way through like the original Harley-Davidson risers. You will need 5/16†– 18 x 7/8†Socket Head Bolts for Top Clamp – JP Cycles P/N: 5000867.

Remember to use torque wrench to properly tighten the two riser bolts and the four top-clamp bolts. Use BLUE LOCTITE on all each of the bolts (2 riser bolts and 4 top clamp bolts).

I have always had good experience with JP Cycles. Very quick shipping and a 24 hour, toll free tech line.

I have 4" pullbacks on my 07 FXDC.

I ran in to some problems with the turn signals brushing the tank. I could have left them on the bars and made some adjustment but I opted to move them to the forks.

I don't think you'd have any issues if all you are going to do is change risers but if you are planning on changing the handlebars that might cause additional concerns.

I swapped my stock buckhorns for low rider bars.

I believe the 08's have intergrated risers.

I installed the Set-Back Riser, Harley Part No 56066-82A.

I thought all was good, no cable adjustments needed, but the bars flexed a lot in the stock bushings.

So I got the Polyurethane Handlebar Riser Bushings Harley Part No 56165-03, and now their is no excessive play.

Fairly easy install, make sure you put a towel over the tank, those bars drop on you, I was anticipating it - knew it was gonna happen - and still gave me a little startle, glad I had the towel covering the tank.

Iput 4" pullback risers on my '07 FXDC that are essentially the same as Harley's 56066-82A. The clutch cable was too long with the stock risers, so it actually got better. Throttle and idle cables were fine, wires were fine. The brake line needed bent a little, but that should bea non-issue withthe braided line on the'08's. I had already moved the turn signals so they weren't a problem with the tank.
OSP and Fastharley, the '08 Street Bobs are the only ones with integrated risers...Super Glide Customs have conventional risers.
