Cutting risers
Just an idea I had and Im looking for opinions. Would it be safe to cut a bout a half in to an in of the stock risers to make them short. I cant find risers shorter than than stock and I need ones to fit the stock top clamp. Is this a terrible ideas or is the shorter bolts/risers going to be safe?

Just make sure to use Grade 8 bolts.
What bike are you talking about? How tall are the risers you are talking about cutting down 1/2- 1"?
I am drawing a blank on what sporty risers (besides the custom) have that much meat on them that you could cut down and still have enough thread in what was left.
As long as you don't get them hot while cutting them down. The last thing you want to do is change the temper of the steel.

Make sure you have plenty of thread left it should be at least two or three times the diamiter of the bolt. 3/8 would be at least 3/4 th deep, I would prefer one inch or more especial on aluminium.
You can not drill it deeper once it is taped.
run a threaded rod up onto to check before you cut it.

Never even thought about this. Can't believe someone else has.
