Default FAT Bob Slip-ons installed: Beware

Finally installed 2' Rush Slip-ons. Its night and day difference on the stock Fat Bob. It was an easy MOD but for all of you out there thinking of doing this beware: the specs ask for 60 ft. lbs of torque, i had the torque wrench set at 60.5 aqnd it broke the muffler clamp bolt.... got that fixed and then sheared off the bolt that holds the slipons to the frame midway down the pipe. a 20 minute mod ended up being a 3 day affair...

I did mine without a torque wrench and it worked out fine. Not saying you shouldnt use one..got lucky I guess. I have the same pipes. The 2 inch Rushare good for those people that want louderdeeper pipes but not to loud. Sorry to hear about your troubles getting them on, sounds like all worked out in the end.

Dont feel bad man!I did the same thing. I chalked it up as a miscalibrated torque wrench and dropped it to 55lbs. I may be wrong butI think the specs are 50-60 lbs. So I definately would agree with you that they snap pretty easy. (I thinkthey are designed to) So for all of those putting on the slip ons stay in the lower part of the torque range and save yourself 9 bucks a clamp.

it worked out ok and like the pipes. Do have a question for you guys, I noticed you can easily take out the baffles of the pipes, has anyone ever done it and if so can you put them back in or is that it? Maybe a dumb question but just not sure.

I may be wrong but rush slip ons may have different baffles available to go louder or less loud. I'd look on rush's site to see if you can buy different baffles for em. If you can you've found your answer on why they can come out.I wouldnt run it with no baffles your bike. Ifit's stock it willprobably beway too lean. Just my opinion, but like and a-hole everyones got one.

I've torqued countless thousands of fasteners(aerospace/aircraft) so I know that a good "feel" for what you are doing is more important than torque numbers.Any torque wrench used in my industry are calibrated on a regular basis.
