What is under the rear seat? Is that the yoke for saddle bags?
ORIGINAL: Bobber Rider
i have the regular (non-wide) solo and the medium-width pillion.
and i'm no small bloke - 6'2"/195lbs.
the foam is dense and hard, back support is excellent, especialy with the p-pad installed.
the medium-width p-pad is exactly the width of the stock '06 Bob fender.
I also have the standard vintage front and it fits me like a glove andtransformed my bike into an all day ride.I bought the standard rear to go with it but noticed my wife would starting squirming after a couple hours so I bought the wide rear for her and now she's happy.People just sit differently,as a rider I have always tended to put weight on my footpegs to control and feel the bike. The passenger on the other hand pretty much just sits there and most of their weight is on their bottom. So now I have an almost new standard rear vintage which I will probably never use. Also take note that the passenger seat touches the riders lower back so you do get some support without installing a rider backrest.I like it a lot and get a lot of favorable comments on the looks because most people don't see this seat on dynas.
I run the vintage solo, love it. The pillion is stored for the occasional 2ups, typically I keep the motherwell fender rack in it's place. all of 2 mins to swap out
I also have the Vintage Solo (non-wide version). It fit and felt great right out of the box from Mustang, but I've since had it cut down 1" and it's even more comfortable. Best $100 I've spent on a seat ever to get it customized to my liking.
This thread sparked my interest so I sent a email to Mustang. They tell me the one peice Vintage for an 06 superglide will move me 1 inch forward and 1 inch higher up. Did anyone notice a big difference when they changed regarding seating position?
I got the same reply when i asked them the same question, so they are consistent.
however, the reality was slightly different.
the seat definitely put me higher then the stock one, but I can't really say that it alsomoved me forward.
if anything, it slightly moved me back.
Ditto on moving me up and back not forward, maybe 1" ??? compared to stock St Bob solo. Had emailed Mustang also and that is what they told me and what I experienced.
Just to update this. I ordered a vintage seat online on June 14. It was shipped June 17 and it was delivered to my house (western Canada) June 24. First impression is very good. Quality and workmanship looks first class. It fit perfectly, but I was a little surprized it is slightly narrower then the stock seat. I got the standard, or non wide. It was also about twice as heavy as the stock seat, presumably better foam. I did not notice any difference in seat height even though they said it would raise me by about one inch. They also said it would move me forward, but infact you move slightly back. My right knee clears the air cleaner a little better now so that's good.
Went for a 30 mile test ride ride and it felt good. WAY better then the stock seat. Main difference is the support is curved where the \\;stock seat \\;is straight across the back meaning you only contact it in the center of your lower back. With the Mustang seat you contact it the full width of the seat.
I going on a 500 - 600 mile ride this weekend. I should have a better idea how I like it when I get back.
