seems everyones raves about the vintage wide solo and passenger seat. saying its comparable in comfort to the sundowner. anyone have the non wide version? my wife and i are on the small side so i was thinking of getting the regular version. does the regular version compare in comfort to the wide? anyone having the mustang vintage solo/passenger please comment! seats are to expensive to make to many wrong choices!!! i already have a sidekick that i will be ebaying after i make the jump to the mustang, just not sure which version to get! thanks
Hey Ash, I just bought the Mustang vintage solo (non-wide) for my Bob. I LOVE it!! VERY comfy when riding alone. Much better than the stock solo, though I never really found that to be uncomfotable...
I also have a Sundowner for 2-up longer trips. I find there really isn't much difference in comfort for the rider between the Sundowner and the vintage solo. I can't judge the add-on passenger seat for the Mustang though, since I have never experienced it.
My own opinion is if youride or plan to ride solo most of the time, the Mustang solo is one of the most atractive and comfortable solo seats out there I think - for the $$ anyway. If you take your time and look around this forum and ebay, youmay eventually find a used sundowner for cheap $$ too.
You might want to check out the Mustang Squareback. I just got one, wife & i both like it. I put a couple hundred miles on over wkend & no complaints
That squareback just doesn't look comfy to me. I do like the back support though. It the rider seating area really comfy? Is it soft? I put a stock seat on from a SG Custom, and it sucks on any long rides. Rode 250 this weekend, and I could barely walk.
i agree the stock seat sucked, just as well sat on the fender. The squareback is pretty comfy to me i had the HD touring seat on it before & this 1 is just as comfy. If you order it straight from mustang they give u a 10 day return policy so there is an option to return it if you don't like it.
Here's my 2008 Lowrider with a "non-wide" solo. This is the studded and fringed version of the Vintage. But, it is the same seat. I have a 32 waist and it fits and feels great. Just as importantly, it looks great. I think the wide seat would look kind of funny.
I have the Mustang Vintage solo regular width and love it -- easy 250 miles with no discomfort, assuming a couple of stops to stretch, etc. I'm 6' and 185 lbs and it fits me great and looks great too! I have short legs (29" inseam) and absolutely no problem sitting flat footed at stops. Mustangs are very well made and great customer service.

I have the non wide verson and the vintage wide. I think the non-wide version is better. I was on the bike for a few hours this weekend and the wide seat begain to cut into the backs of my thighs. Are you looking for the narrow with studs?
Right now I have:
Studded Solo #76106
Vintage Wide #79358 w/Rear seat 79137
Could not make up my mind. But I now know I do not want studs as my saddle bags do not have them.
I tried out the Fastback, which I believe is the same seat in front, and it was very comfortable. It's flatter than a stock seat and spreads out your weight better so it's better over the long haul. I didn't keep it because ofother issues (bags), but I would buy a Mustang in a minute. Like Chipstah said, their customer serviceand quality aretop notch IMO.
i have the regular (non-wide) solo and the medium-width pillion.
and i'm no small bloke - 6'2"/195lbs.
the foam is dense and hard, back support is excellent, especialy with the p-pad installed.
the medium-width p-pad is exactly the width of the stock '06 Bob fender.
