Oh yeah....rule #2 NEVER talk to good looking chicks in a Mustang convertible while you are riding in heavy stop and go traffic.......Don't ask me why either...[:@]
Yeah, that tilt indicator was the first thing I saw, and Ithought to myself, "SH*T, MAN!! I NEVER wanted to see that after reading about it in the manual. Go away please, PLEASE go away." Then it was, "Am I dreaming? You have got to be kidding me." Then again, "Am I dreaming?" Oh well. I appreciate all the stories and confessions coming out from this post though. It makes me feel at least a little better...

Pulled into the dealership, with a buddy behind me, in his car. I do the "u"ey to park, but as I stopped, the bike just kept on tilting to the right. Dropped her on the right side.... I don't even think I was going 1/2 a mph....
Five years agoI "grabbed" the front brake at 1/2 MPH with the whel turned to the right and went down in a hurry. I hit my helmeted head on a concrete curb and saw stars. (I thought that was a cartoon joke, but I really saw stars.) No damage to the bike, but the helmet was totaled. Thankfully, no witnesses.
Here's my confession: Last year on "bike night" my buddies and I pulled in to a bar. All the parking spots were taken except near a hill.
So.... I parked on the slope and put her in 1st to keep the wheels locked. went insideand had a few "pops".... came out and turned the key ( forgot she was in 1st ) hit theswitch and ... wooh ah !!!she bucked me off like a wild bull !! .. bike fell over on the right side.. I caught my leg under the bike .. OUCH ! the F'n thing is HEAVY !!!!Got some small scratches on my pipes BUT got some BIG scratches on my leg!
Here's a pic of my leg saved bymy boot, and 1 year later .. leg still hurts a bit..BUT, IfI was not wearingboots Iwould have screwed up my legworse ...... probably would havesnapped my achilles tendon.
Lessons learned
1. ALWAYS pull in the clutch when you start the bike
2.ALWAYS WearBOOTS when you ride
3.Ricers have a safety feature where starter won't engageunlessbike is in neutral... HARLEYS DON"T.
I haven't dropped my wg yet but I've dropped a few bikes in my day. The best one was...a group of friends and I had been 'watching' my pops house while he was out of the state and had quite the party. my bud rode an 85 goldwing. Well sometime during the night, whileI was having very drunk sex with a guest, he decided to take my car home. He left the 'wing for me. I wake up and without thinking I was still drunk I got on the wing with my guest and started riding to his house to get my car. We get to a major 5 corner intersection and stop for the redlight. I only put my left foot down... I could feel the bike going the opposite way. I tried to catch it but there was no way. I just turned and said "jump off" to the passenger, and let it go. I dropped the bike in front of about 25 cars. Talk about a dent in my ego. I just stood there and laughed and after a minute picked the bike back up. I got to my buds house and told him what happened and also assured him there was no damage to his ride. He laughed.
Not proud of it but it was pretty damn funny at the time.
Gilly - If your bike goes past a certain angle, to one side or the other, your odometer reads the words "tilt". All you have to do to reset it is shut the bike off, then on, then off. It's supposed to be there incase someone tips your bike while your in a store or something. Too bad it didn't realize that it was my dumb *** that had dropped it. I REALLY didn't need to see that. I knew she was on her side. I didn't needthe biketo tell me too...
dont you know that murphys law applies to bikes as well , the odds of dropping your bike are directly proportional to the number of people avalible to see it happen.
Wellknock on wood I have not dropped my bike with me on it, had a few close calls, but I have parked it to only come out and find it laying on its side where the stand had sunk in to the ground.
