Well, here's my story.....Last summer I was riding out in the country when I came to this T intersection where I wanted to turn right. So I come to a stop and a put my feet down. The left foot went down first and when I was completely stopped I went to put my right foot down and I had the startle of my life....the ashphalt on the side of the rode had broken away and rolled under my food causing my foot to go down farther than expected. It was same feeling as going down a flight of stairs thinking you are at the bottom and really have one more step to go. When that happened to me the bike got beyond that point of no return andall I could do was ease it ondown. The right side of the handle bar hit the ground first and the momentum drove the right turn signal into to my gas tank and now I have a constant reminder to make sure I don't get to close to the side of the road and to make sure there is stable ground under my feet.
Gilly - If your bike goes past a certain angle, to one side or the other, your odometer reads the words "tilt". All you have to do to reset it is shut the bike off, then on, then off. It's supposed to be there incase someone tips your bike while your in a store or something.
Your bike has a "bank angle sensor" that shuts down the ignition and fuel injection if the bike is leaned to such a degree that it will fall over or crash. It is a safety feature. I like the feature because I have crashed a 2 cycle bike without one and the engine didn't stall and that SOB wanted to keep going even though it was stuck on the front of a Ford station wagon.
