Sav. HD (Motor Mount) Issue
Haven't posted in a while (Been riding lately!) but I've been keeping an eye on the posts. Finally been putting a few miles on the 06 SB, and have begun to notice the mysterious decel vibration that many other have notices. Do a little research and I'm thinking it's front motor mount.
Now, here's a little history on the SB. Dad bought the bike new from Columbia SC (Harley Haven) but got sick a few months after he bought it. He got it so he would have another ride (Solo) when he wasn't on the Wide Glide. (Mostly I think he got it so we could ride together when I came over). So, very few miles on the SB for the first few year (Less than 400 mi). Dad stayed sick for a while and we didn't do much riding as he didn't get better. Dad passed away in Dec. and left behind two awesome rides (One for me 06 SB and one for my uncle 05 Wide Glide).
So, now I'm riding the 06 SB and finally getting a few miles on it (900 mi) so I take to Sav HD. and yep, bad motor mount. Service rep tells me it'll only be about $150 to repair. I'm thinking 900 mi. isn't this still under warranty..... Nope, warranty ran out 2 months ago in March. So I head home feeling screwed by HD. I've got a bike that isn't even broke in yet and It's out of warranty. Oh, btw, he trys to sell me a extended service plan.
I get home and call the Columbia HD where we bought the bike, tell him the story and he laughs, he can't believe that Sav. HD wouldn't work with me on the mount. He says, they can use goodwill money to fix it or work with the MOCO to get it replaced. Either way, he says bring it and they'll fix it. Anyway, I'll be heading up to Columbia in a week or so, waiting on good weather as it's about 225 mi. It'll be a good ride anyway.
So, I guess the lesson to the story is, Not all Stealers are created equal.
Oh, BTW. When I call the service mgr. at Sav. HD and tell him the story, he gets a little funny.... Says to tell the Cola. guy that if they are so "willing to please" (his words) then they can send him the part and he'll put it in for free...... Guess he didn't like getting showed up by another dealer. I guess this is the reason dad always drove 200 mi. away to buy both his bikes. These frikin dealers dont get it, all he had to do was work with me and they would get all my business. Now, I'm going to take all my "non-warranty" work to the local Indie, he's got a great rep. around town anyway. So screw the stealer here in Sav. I might buy a T-shirt from em but that's about it.
Sorry for the long post, I just had to vent and get ya'll opnion.
Thanks
