I have an 05' FXDLI with 14.5K miles and have not had any real problems with it. However, a week ago a friend of mine and I rode to the Gulf Coast going via I-65 to Pensacola. I am a casual rider (usually keep it between 70-75) as I detest my detachable windshield. Anyway, we got on the I-state and rode about 100 miles at 80 -90 mph (windshield attached). The next morning I noticed a light film of oil on one side the rear cylinder rocker box cover. I took it to the dealer and he said it was not a major problem but I needed to replace the gasket to correct the situation. He said this is a rare problem with the twin-cam. My question is this? Did the continous running at higher RPM's cause the problem? I change my own oil (Mobil 1) and do not overfill (2.6 quarts bring it to full on the dip stick). The dealer said that even if I had overfilled the oil tank, it would not cause an upper gasket problem. Has anyone else had this issue? It is more annoying than anything else as the sepage is slight but it attracts and holds dust and road film on a long ride.
